How Nook Junkies makes money

Nook Junkies is free to use. We don’t charge for accounts, don’t run ads, and don’t sell your data. We earn revenue through affiliate commissions: when you click a purchase link on our site and buy a kit from a retailer like Amazon, we may earn a small percentage of that sale at no extra cost to you.

What this means in practice

  • You pay the same price. Affiliate commissions come from the retailer, not from you. The price you see and pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer.
  • We link to Amazon and brand-direct stores. Most of our affiliate links go to Amazon through the Amazon Associates program. Some kits link directly to the manufacturer’s website. In both cases, we only link to sources where the product is legitimately available.
  • Not every product has an affiliate link. Our catalog includes kits regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship. If a kit exists and builders want to know about it, it belongs in the catalog.

What affiliate links never influence

We take editorial independence seriously. Affiliate relationships do not affect:

  • Which kits we recommend. Our beginner recommendations, comparison guides, and “best of” lists are based on our own building experience, community feedback, and product quality — not on which products pay the highest commission.
  • How kits are rated or reviewed. Reviews come from real builders in the community. We don’t edit, filter, or suppress reviews based on affiliate status.
  • Which kits appear in the catalog. We catalog kits because builders want to find them. A kit without an affiliate link gets the same product page, the same specs, and the same prominence as one with a link.
  • Search results or sort order. Our catalog filters and sort options are based on difficulty, builder style, price, brand, and theme — not affiliate status.

Amazon Associates disclosure

Nook Junkies is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Why we’re transparent about this

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires websites to disclose affiliate relationships, and we agree with the spirit of that requirement. You deserve to know how the site you’re using pays its bills. If you have questions about our affiliate relationships, email us at nookjunkies@gmail.com.

Supporting Nook Junkies

The simplest way to support Nook Junkies is to use our links when you’re buying a kit you’ve already decided to purchase. It costs you nothing and helps us keep the site running, the catalog updated, and the community features improving. We genuinely appreciate it.
