The book nook kit is made from wood, it is high quality and durable. Every piece is laser-cut and pre-colored, no need to paint it. There is also a step by step instruction to follow it when set up.

I wanted to love this kit more than I did. The side panels were all really warped, a lot of the tabs on the pieces didn't fit well so I had to glue a lot of them together, and all of the accessories were paper. I will admit that I didn't really understand the Snap vs Craft style kit or what to really expect based on what I thought I was getting into and how that would differ with this kit. I think I'm just not to the point yet where I want to sit and cut out lots of tiny paper pieces and glue them onto the little blocks for books. Stickers? Sure. I just wasn't ready for the Craft style when I built this. Admittedly, if the pieces fit better and the sites weren't so warped, I don't think it would have been as frustrating. I also felt like the lights weren't very evenly distributed, with whole sections like the top floor not even being lit at all. The end result looks cool from a distance, very cozy and inviting and I like the angled steps behind the doorway in the back, but the quality of materials and the lack of knowing what I should be expecting made for a frustrating experience.
